CAWHI - WHO WE ARE

The Centre for Adolescents and Women’s Health Initiative (CAWHI) is a Youth-led, Non- Governmental, Not for Profit, Community-Based organization established and registered in Ghana (Registration Number: CG055332018) which seeks to promote and improve access to quality, youth-friendly and gender-sensitive sexual reproductive health and rights through capacity building, advocacy, research, and quality service delivery.

CAWHI believes that Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are fundamental to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Our focus and concepts are therefore aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) pertaining to the most vulnerable women, adolescents and youth; specifically Goals 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages), 4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all) and 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls), the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD); the African Union 2063 agenda and the National Policies and Strategic Frameworks addressing Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health, Girls’ Education, Gender Equality, Empowerment and Adolescent Protection in Ghana and beyond.

INTERVENTIONS

Initiatives and interventions to promote and improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of adolescents and women, reducing high burden of reproductive health problems.

PRIORITY AREAS

We seek to identify priority areas for action to move towards universal health coverage that will improve sexual reproductive health and rights of adolescents and women.
